Do you know how a limo is made?

making a limoDid you ever wonder how a limo was actually made?  Did you know that all limos start as an actual car or SUV and they are literally cut in half, stretched, and then put back together again?  Buses are built from the floor up.  They start as a chassis  (steering wheel down) and various manufacturers build the shell and then the interiors.

converting a limoThe traditional limousine is made from a Lincoln Town Car.  It takes a manufacturer about 8 weeks to build.  Because of the climate and overhead expenses involved, most limousines are manufactured in Missouri and California and then shipped across the country on car carriers to the New England operators.

The cost of a stretch limousine ranges from $75,000 to $150,000 brand new.  Party buses cost even more.

Because these vehicles are cut and stretched they can only accomidate a set amount of people to remain safe.  Each vehicle is safety and load tested and an appropriate amount of passengers is then listed inside the rear passenger doors on a decal.  It is unsafe to put more than the recommended amount of passengers in the back of a limousine.

There are many factors to consider when renting a limo.  Safety should always be one of those factors.  Make sure you know what you are renting before you send a limo company a deposit.
